Women Survivors of Gun Violence Event, March 2025

This event was a healing space for survivors and victims of gun violence in Brownsville. We had the opportunity to be with others who understand, share stories, and find strength in community. The event was held at the Greg Jackson Center with Guest Speaker Oresa Napper Williams with Central Brooklyn EDC.

"Heal Her Journey" 3-part Event, November 2024 - 2025

For this 3-part event, we brought together young girls from Brownsville to heal together. This is a collaboration with Brownsville Hub Cooperative, Brownsville Community Justice Center and Prize Possessions Inc. The first event was November 23, the second was a Galentine's celebration on February 15th and the final event is TBD. |

After the unjust murder of Robert Brooks on December 9th, 2024 at the Marcy Correctional Facility, our Incredible Warrior Ambassadors organized to protest on multiple occasions. |
Suitcase Sunday for Witness to Mass Incarceration

One of New York’s largest organized network of formerly incarcerated small service and business owners, Witness to Mass Incarceration hosted a public market with more than 50 formerly incarcerated led services and businesses. At this event, our youth were able to sell their holiday calendars. This was a great opportunity to connect with members of the community and strengthen their entrepreneurship and networking skills! |
Storytelling Event, 2024
The ICM Storytelling Event on December 7th provided a platform for youth to share their experiences and reflect on their personal growth. Participants interviews to provide impact statements and held a healing circle to reflect and express how program engagement has helped them transform into local leaders. Some feedback included ICM helping youth participants build confidence, stay off the streets, engage with their communities, feel safer and supported, develop leadership skills, and provided positive outlets and greater opportunities. "Heal the Violence" 3-part Event, 2024
In the summer of 2024, we held a three-part event as part of the “Heal the Violence” Initiative, which was a collaboration the Mayor’s Office of Criminal Justice.
For the first event, we brought our youth together to create a safe space where they could address gun violence. They answered survey questions which measured how they felt about gun violence in Brownsville and discussed solutions and ways to heal together. For the second event, we brought parents and other impacted individuals together to analyze the answers that the young people gave, enjoy brunch and get their feedback on how to stop gun violence. For the third event, we brought the community of Brownsville together for an Urban Gospel Karaoke night. We shared affirmations, our youth facilitated healing circles and we enjoyed eachothers company. This was a great way to end our “Healing The Violence” initiative on a positive note and bond as a community. This was a great way to collaborate to find a way to end gun violence and bring our community together. |
Sweatsuit Making Event for PPP, October 2024
This event was a partnership with Life Runs Knowing (@iam__lrk) where the Incredible Warrior Ambassadors designed sweatsuits. Through the “How to Design Our Future” workshop, they learned to bring their visions to life. We loved seeing everyone got so creative, adding their unique touches to the hoods, sleeves, and sweatpants. |
We The Nation Reentry Summit, June 2024
On June 2nd, our youth were able to volunteer at the We Nation Reentry Summit at the Harlem School of Arts. The day was truly remarkable, especially for justice-impacted women and girls. We are immensely proud of all individuals who contributed to this significant day filled with valuable resources, compassion, and healing. A special shoutout goes to the youth who attended and demonstrated their encouragement!
Collaboration with Love for Harlem and Afterhaven, May 2024
As a partnership with Love for Harlem and Afterhaven, we had a 6 week training for young people to create a PSA to end gun violence in our communities. We participated in rally and event in St. Nicholas Park on May 24th. This was a great way to allow the youth to find create, community-driven solutions to ending gun violence.
Clean the Streets of Brownsville, April 2024
On April 22nd, we came together as a community to clean the streets of Brownsville. This was a collaboration with Pitkin Avenue BID, Equity Design LLC, Brownsville Community Justice Center, DOMHH and Street Lab to help give back, help improve our community and celebrate Earth Day. We cleaned the streets along a New Bike route for youth coming to and from school.
